Keep in mind that your baby won’t be ready for most strollers until he can sit up unassisted, which is usually around six-months old. Your options? Purchase a stroller with a bassinet or fully reclined seat that is safe for newborns or use a carrier instead. But for each of those options, you’ll need to move your child out of the car seat. Another alternative is to get a stroller that allows infant car seats to be attached.
You certainly could purchase a car seat-compatible stroller separately rather than in a prepackaged travel system―just make sure the stroller will work with the car seat you’ve selected. (Note: You will also need to buy an additional part, called an adapter, to connect the car seat to the stroller.)
Many parents opt for a travel system to save themselves the hassle of researching which stroller fits with which car seat.
Evenflo Vive with Embrace, Spearmint Spree
The Evenflo Vive Travel System allows for the car seat to easily hook into the stroller. Owning this travel system means that you can push around your infant in the car seat or use the stroller individually.
The car seat that comes with the Evenflo Vive Travel System features a five-point-harness which has multiple levels of adjustment… to accommodate your growing baby. The car seat has foam padding throughout and it even has a small canopy to shield your baby from the sun. It also comes with a convenient carrying handle.
Most infant car seats have a weight limit of 22-25 pounds. The car seat that comes with the Evenflo Vive Travel System has a weight limit of 35 pounds. This means that your baby can remain rear-facing for longer, which is the safest position in a car. This also means that your baby can still use the car seat well past their first birthday. Other infant car seats are often outgrown by their first birthday or earlier.
Graco Aire3 Click Connect
We decided to take a look at The Graco Aire 3 Click Connect Travel System is a perfect example of a great value travel system for newborn babies and our expert review of the seat shows that its a star buy. As a new parent you will know better than anyone there are literally hundreds of products that you need to provide your new arrival with the best and most comfortable life possible.
As with most travel systems the Graco Aire 3… Click Connect Travel System has a great age range meaning you do get excellent value for money when you purchase this product. The infant car seat can be used for any child weighing from 4 all the way up to 35 pounds and or measuring 32 inches in height.
Overall, we feel the Graco Aire 3 Click Connect travel system is a great buy. It is well within most parents’ budget at approximately $250 and provides excellent value for money with the lifespan of both the infant car seat and the child stroller that come with the travel system. As with ALL Graco products the finish is excellent and the safety features are plentiful. With the maximum weight limit on the stroller of 50 pounds you should be able to use it until your little one reaches 4 years old (obviously this will vary on your child’s growth rate).
Graco Fastaction Fold Jogger Click Connect
The Graco Fast Action Fold Jogger earned the third lowest score out of the 16 products we tested. In our opinion, this easy on the eyes stroller only has that going for it. With a front swivel wheel that continually locked when we didn’t want it too, combined with an inability to track straight and a consensus that we’d like to burn it as opposed to push it, this is a stroller we don’t recommend.
Despite the Graco brand being known for… budget-friendly options that are relatively good quality, this model fails to really bring anything useful to the table no matter what your goals are.
Also, if you are a serious runner, we suspect its lack of solid tracking and suspension will have you leaving it by the curb and carrying baby home. Even though we like how easy it is to fold and it is one of the only products in our review that self-stands, it simply doesn’t work for jogging or even strolling and we think most parents will be disappointed in its overall performance. All of this makes the Graco Fast Action Fold Jogger a stroller we don’t recommend.
Graco Comfy Cruiser Click Connect
The Graco Comfy Cruiser Click Connect Travel System is built to keep your child happy throughout the day. If you need to constantly push your child around town, this model is one of the best options on the market due to its durability, stylish design, and full-featured construction.
After a long day of pushing your… child around, all you want to do is forget the stroller exist and store it away. Thankfully, the stroller is both easy to fold and store. Its one-hand folding feature makes it simple to make the product compact, even if you are busy doing something else. Once it is fully folded, this stroller should fit in most storage areas with ease.
Overall, any parent will be well-served by the stellar build of the Graco Comfy Cruiser Click Connect Travel System. Not only does it provide a ton of security to keep your child content and carefree, but it protects parents from fatigue with its comfortable, highly maneuverable design. If you want a stroller that will last your family for more children in the future, the Stroller has the durability and timeless design that will do just that. Invest in one today if you are ready to start making getting on the go with your child a fun and relaxing experience.
Safety 1st Smooth Ride
The Safety 1st Smooth Ride travel system is widely regarded as one of the easiest stroller travel systems to open and ticks all the boxes as far as inclusions go. You truly get the full package here with the onboard35 infant car seat, the stay in car base unit and of course the famous and unique “Smooth Ride” stroller. Not only does this great little travel system offer you everything you could need as a new parent, it does it all at a fantastic price too.
The Smooth Ride Travel system is ideal for… any young family with a newborn. The Onboard35 infant car seat is suitable from 4 up to a healthy 35 pounds and the large and comfortable stroller can comfortably and most importantly, safely carry your little one until they reach 50 pounds.
When we did the full seat reviews, we definitely believe the Safety 1st Smooth Ride travel system is one of the best value travel systems available today. For around the $200 mark there are very few systems that will come with a base unit, an infant car seat and a stroller. Not only is it great value but it is also a great quality little system too. The stroller is super easy to use, comfortable and best of all has the 5 point harness for safety that we love.
Baby Trend EZ Ride 5
Every new parent knows the importance of having a car seat and a stroller, so why not buy them together? Strollers and car seats sold in travel system sets are typically less expensive than buying the two separately, and they can be clicked together to be used as one big system.
The Baby Trend EZ Ride 5 Travel System has… Flex-Loc technology that you see on many of the newer infant car seats. Graco has a similar system called Click Connect. The car seat comes with a base that can be installed using the LATCH system. To install the car seat in your car, you simply click the car seat itself into the base. The LATCH system is easy to install and allows you to keep the base in the car so you don’t need to install your child’s car seat with every car trip.
If you’re looking for a basic model, this may be right for you. But in my opinion, it is worth spending a little extra for a higher quality travel system. You don’t want to dread using your stroller every time. If this is something you will be using on a weekly or daily basis, look into higher quality models available. You will thank yourself later!
Chicco Bravo Trio
The Chicco Bravo Trio travel system is one of the most recent releases from a company that knows baby travel gear. The Cortina travel system has been popular for a decade, but Chicco didn’t rest on their laurels in the travel system game. The Bravo Trio addresses lots of issues parents have with travel systems. Of course, no travel system is perfect for every family. Let’s learn all about the Chicco Bravo Trio travel system!
Since standard travel system strollers can be… heavy, it’s nice that you can completely remove the seat and padding to lighten the load. That creates a stroller frame that’s lighter for lifting in and out of the trunk and takes up less space in your trunk, and it keeps the seat padding clean for later use.
Overall, though, this is one of the best travel systems available. Chicco’s Cortina was one of our previous picks for best overall travel system, and the Bravo Trio improves on Cortina in terms of style, weight, and fold. Most travel system strollers are too bulky and heavy to be truly useful for long, but the Bravo Trio provides some nice features that could make it great for the long haul.
Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite Stroller, Black
The Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite is an inline double stroller with sit and stand capabilities. This stroller is lightweight, has a parent console, sliding bench seat for storage access, a reclining front seat, larger than average canopy for the stroller style, and a child’s tray. This stroller can be used with an additional seat (for purchase), has double action brakes, and the front seat can recline in three positions.
None of the adapters needed to be… assembled, but the child’s tray needs to be removed from the stroller to attach them. All of the infant seats are the strap-in connections, and they can be installed incorrectly if the straps are not properly secured. We worry some parents will forget the strap or choose not to use it making it a potential safety concern.
While this stroller scored lower than a lot of the competition and didn’t win an award, for this reason, we did give it an honorable mention shout out as a good option for parents looking for a stroller of this style. Thanks to an easy to lift and carry weight and versatile seating arrangements this stroller stands out for being good at what it is and what it offers, even if it isn’t the best option for everyone.
